About Us
General Information:
BVASA members comprise players of all standards who are aged 35 years and over. Our normal practice/social play time is 2.00 pm to 5.00 p.m. each Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and 7:30 to 9:30 Thursday evenings. Games are played at SA Badminton Headquarters at 42 Rutland Avenue, Lockleys.
Our annual membership fee is $40.00 per member which also covers SABA membership if required. This entitles members to play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Saturday afternoons, Thursday night competition and all BVASA tournaments (entry fee required).
Our fee for Saturday afternoons is $14.00 per player, Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Thursday evenings cost $8.00. Feather shuttles are used for all sessions.
Partners of members who do not play in Vets' badminton can join as a Social Member for $50.00. This allows them to attend social functions at the same price as members.
The main events organized by the BVASA are:
1. The March Carnival is held each year on the Saturday and Sunday of the long weekend for teams of 8 players (4 men and 4 women). This tournament attracts many teams from the Metropolitan area, Country and Interstate. Matches comprise doubles and mixed doubles. Matches are played at Lockleys and another venue as arranged from time to time.
2. The November Carnival is held at Lockleys in mid-November, with players nominating individually and the Committee making up teams. This event is held from mid-day Saturday until approx. 5.30 p.m., (an evening meal may be arranged) and continues over to Sunday, commencing 9.30 a.m. until approximately 2.30 p.m. This tournament is usually supported by players from the metropolitan and country areas. Matches comprise doubles and mixed doubles.
3. Country Events - The Mildura tournament, held in September and the Barossa tournament held in May are promoted by the BVASA.
Social evenings such as Dinners, Soup Night, Barbecue, Ten-Pin Bowls etc. are also scheduled.
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS
Courts at Lockleys are available for hire at times when matches are not being played. Contact details to book courts are displayed on the door of the stadium.
The 2024 Committee of BVASA comprises:

Vice-President: - Allan Davis - assistant to the President and other duties as required.
Secretary: - Allen Slack - responsible for all communications, booking of venues for all events etc.
Assistant Secretary: - Kathryn Larsen - assistant to the Secretary and other duties as required.
Treasurer: - Wendy Wu - responsible for collection of fees and payment of accounts.
Assistant Treasurer:- Christine Tremain - assistant to the Treasurer and other duties as required.
General Committee Members:- Frans Flissaard, Boo Hin Khoo, Colin Jong - Assistance as required.
